Question: can you hang this umbrella all year round, even in snow or rain?

Answer: yes, it will sag slightly temporarily when wet or snowy. Then pull up, tighten strings, but do not do it frequently

Question: How transparent is the material?

Answer: it is actually not transparent at all. The temperature can drop to about 15 degrees! I love it!

Question: Can I attach it to a tree?

Answer: Yes, but you have to take into account the tension created by the swaying of the tree in the wind. A very large tree (more than 18 inches in diameter) with a height of 10 feet is more stable and will not stretch the shelter sail and cause cracking. With a smaller tree, this could happen. Spring tensioners and breakaway clamps will help.

Question: Does the wind come through or is it deflected by this sail?

Answer: Yes: The sail definitely redirects or catches the wind as a sail. We use it with our pergola and roll it up and secure it when we are not using it.
